2zWhy Fear & Greed Matters
Understand how sentiment can help interpret market behavior.
The crypto market behavior is highly emotional. People tend to get greedy when the market is rising, which can result in FOMO. People also often sell their coins irrationally after seeing red numbers. With the Fear and Greed Index, the goal is to help users better understand emotional market conditions. There are two simple assumptions:
- Extreme fear can be a sign that investors are too worried. That could represent a potential buying opportunity.
- When investors are getting too greedy, the market may be due for a correction.
Therefore, we analyze current Bitcoin market sentiment and turn the data into a simple meter from 0 to 100. Zero means "Extreme Fear", while 100 means "Extreme Greed". See below for further information on the data source.
